Noras Englischinstitut entstand aus ihrer Leidenschaft f\u00fcr Sprache und dem Wunsch, einen Unterschied zu machen. Nachdem sie Anfang 2020 nach Deutschland gezogen war, begann sie in der Marketingbranche zu arbeiten und entdeckte bald ihre Liebe zum Englischunterricht durch Online-Nachhilfe. Was im Januar 2021 als Nebenjob begann, entwickelte sich rasch zu einer Vollzeitkarriere. Angetrieben von der Freude, anderen zu helfen, ihr Englisch zu verbessern, erwarb Nora ihre TEFL-Level-5-Zertifizierung und erweiterte ihr Lehrangebot.<\/span><\/p>

Bis Februar 2023 widmete sich Nora vollst\u00e4ndig ihrer Leidenschaft, und seitdem ist das Nora\u2019s English Institute zu einem kleinen, aber dynamischen Team mit einem breiten Spektrum an Fachkompetenzen herangewachsen. Ich bin in Texas, USA, aufgewachsen und habe dort meinen Bachelor-Abschluss in Internationalen Studien an der Texas A&M University erworben. Nach meinem Abschluss im Jahr 2020 entschied ich mich, nach Deutschland zu ziehen und das Abenteuer meines Lebens zu beginnen. How did you become fluent in this language? Does it relate to your background, or did a teacher once inspire a passion for it in you?<\/b> Ich spreche Englisch als Muttersprache und bin geb\u00fcrtig aus den USA. Meine Liebe zur englischen Sprache entdeckte ich jedoch erst, als ich begann, meine Zweitsprache (Deutsch) zu lernen. Die Bausteine einer Sprache faszinieren mich, und ich bin \u00fcberzeugt, dass das Erlernen mehrerer Sprachen viele M\u00f6glichkeiten im Leben er\u00f6ffnet.<\/span><\/p>

Name a person, whether living, historical, or fictional, who best represents this culture for you.<\/b> Since American culture is so diverse, it\u2019s very difficult to choose just one person! However, I would personally mention F. Scott Fitzgerald. He was an American author who wrote at the beginning of the 20th century. His most famous work, <\/span>The Great Gatsby<\/span><\/i>, deals with the idea of the American Dream and the consequences of pursuing this ideal. Although he wrote the book in 1925, I find that the themes are still relevant today, as many Americans continue to question what the American Dream really means for them and their fellow citizens.<\/span><\/p>

Is there a word, expression, tradition, or typical behavior in the language you teach that particularly impresses or amuses you?<\/b> I find that English is a very polite language. Americans, Canadians, Australians, and Brits are known for their politeness and the importance of small talk. This politeness is also reflected in the language. Americans often say, “Thank you, I appreciate that!” when expressing gratitude, and I really like the use of the word “appreciation” in the language.<\/span><\/p>

Why do you think it is so important to master this language?<\/b> English is the global language today. Whether someone wants to travel, conduct business in another country, or reach a higher academic level, English is essential. Since so many people have had to take English lessons at some point, many have unpleasant memories of learning the language. My goal is to show not only how important English is but also how much fun it can be.<\/span><\/p>

What makes learning this language particularly challenging, and why is it especially worthwhile?<\/b> Compared to phonetic languages like German, English vocabulary can sometimes be quite difficult to pronounce and spell. I always try to find reading material based on my students’ interests to promote natural vocabulary acquisition and support the use of these new words through informal and enjoyable discussions afterward.<\/span><\/p>

Do you have a memorable anecdote related to this language from your professional life or school days that you\u2019d like to share?<\/b> I’ve always enjoyed English, even as a child. I won the spelling bee at my school in the 5th grade, and in high school, I scored in the 98th percentile on a national standardized test for English reading and writing. I never expected to teach English as a profession, but I truly enjoy turning my “weakness” of not being a native German speaker into my greatest “strength” to help others achieve their English goals.<\/span><\/p>

Help us get to know you a little better by telling us more about your travels and\/or experiences abroad.<\/b> I studied International Studies at Texas A&M University. As part of my degree, I participated in a year-long exchange program at the University of T\u00fcbingen. I had just turned 21, and it was one of the happiest times of my life. I learned so much about other cultures from the other exchange students from around the world. I had the opportunity to live with a German host family and learn more about German life. After graduating with my bachelor\u2019s degree, I moved to Germany in January 2020 to start my career. Since then, I’ve had the chance to travel to Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, the Czech Republic, France, Spain, and Ireland. I’ve also been to Mexico and the Caribbean, and I’d love to explore the Middle East as my next travel destination.<\/span><\/p>

Als TEFL-zertifizierte Lehrerin mit jahrelanger Erfahrung in der Hochschullehre verf\u00fcge ich \u00fcber eine solide Grundlage im Bildungsbereich. Im Verlagswesen habe ich u. a. Zurzeit erziehe ich leidenschaftlich gerne meine drei zweisprachigen Kinder und unterst\u00fctze sie auf ihrem Bildungsweg. How did you become fluent in this language? Does it relate to your background, or did a teacher<\/strong>
once inspire a passion for it in you? <\/strong>I grew up in sunny South Africa in the beautiful city of Cape Town where I attended the German school. We spoke English and German fluently, often blending the two languages to the horror of our teachers. My preference however, was always English, which led me to study English Literature and Film alongside my Business Science degree at university.<\/p>\n

Name a person, whether living, historical, or fictional, who best represents this culture for you. <\/strong>Desmund Tutu, the late Anglican Archbishop of South Africa comes to mind. He was like human
sunshine. Despite so many socio-economic challenges facing the country he maintained a positive
outlook, showing love for every human being regardless of skin colour or background. He embodied
the African philosophy of \u201cUbuntu\u201d \u2013 which means \u201cI am because we are\u201d. His life is an inspiring
reminder of the power of compassion and unity.<\/p>\n

Is there a word, expression, tradition, or typical behavior in the language you teach that<\/strong>
particularly impresses or amuses you? <\/strong>In South Africa you might hear someone say, \u201cStop at the robot.\u201d Now if you were hoping to bump into R2-D2, I must disappoint you. A traffic light is called a \u201crobot\u201d back home and it\u2019s always fun to see the surprise on visitor\u2019s faces when they hear it.<\/p>\n

Why do you think it is so important to master this language? <\/strong>Language is the key to the human heart \u2013 to understanding one another. Communication remains essential in both business and personal interaction, even in our digital world. Learning a new language isn\u2019t just about acquiring new vocabulary, it\u2019s about accessing new cultures, perspectives, and literature. Essentially, it\u2019s about gaining a deeper understanding of our beautiful, diverse world.<\/p>\n

What makes learning this language particularly challenging, and why is it especially worthwhile? <\/strong>I have had the privilege to travel to nearly 60 countries in the world. Whenever I was not able to communicate in the native tongue I could continue using English. English remains as one of the most spoken languages worldwide, opening doors and paving the way for further interaction.<\/p>\n

Do you have a memorable anecdote related to this language from your professional life or school <\/strong>days that you\u2019d like to share? <\/strong>Back when I was a child we would often role play private investigator. Of course I drove a smart, white Mercedes cabriolet and the language of choice between us girls was always English. Way cooler, way more stylish, just all together better.<\/p>\n

Help us get to know you a little better by telling us more about your travels and\/or experiences<\/strong>
abroad. <\/strong>I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and went to the German International School. My parents, both Swiss from Zurich, had remained in the most southern part of the continent on their honeymoon and hence my journey starts in the sun, speaking Swiss German, German and English.
After completing my Abitur I travelled the world as a Flight Attendant for Swissair before returning to
Cape Town in order to study Business Science. I completed my Masters degree in Marketing and
continued working at the university as a lecturer. Love finally brought me to Germany, where I worked in an online marketing agency for many years. Raising our three children fulfils me with a huge amount of joy and seeing them pick up more and more English language skills is very rewarding.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell: What makes you a great tutor? <\/strong>I love people. And with that comes the joy of seeing individuals grow by learning and expanding their horizons. As a native speaker both in English and German, I am in a unique position to teach the language with the correct translation if needed. As a multilingual speaker fluent in English, French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin, I bring a rich blend of cultural and linguistic insight to my teaching. I have a passion not only for languages but also for numbers, and I enjoy teaching students not only in French and English but also in Math.<\/p>

Growing up in Cameroon, where French is widely spoken, and attending an international English-language school gave me a strong foundation in both languages from an early age.
My academic journey later took me to Germany, where I am completing my master\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering\u2014an experience that further strengthened my German fluency.<\/p>

My love for travel and languages has also led me to live in Colombia and China, where I immersed myself in local culture and learned Spanish and Mandarin. As a native English speaker from Arizona with over 15 years of experience working with and teaching children English in Germany, I absolutely love what I do!<\/p>

I acquired a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University in 2016 and currently have a C1 level of German.<\/p>

Making lessons fun for students is my know-how. By integrating games, reading, singing and more, children often don\u2019t even realise that they are learning during my lessons.<\/p>

My experience has shown me that children are able to mimic language so well that I believe childhood is the ideal time to learn English, especially when it comes to pronunciation.<\/p>

My family, including my two children, are of greatest importance to me. Beyond taking care of them, I also love reading books and doing sports and am into pretty much any physical challenge that doesn\u2019t require a ball! Geboren und aufgewachsen in Stuttgart, hatte ich das Privileg, an so unterschiedlichen Orten wie Indonesien und Texas, USA, zu leben. <\/span>Obwohl ich urspr\u00fcnglich aus Deutschland komme, bin ich im Herzen Texaner. <\/span>Ich begann meine berufliche Laufbahn mit einer Ausbildung zum Bankkaufmann, die eine solide Grundlage f\u00fcr mein Fachwissen im Finanzbereich bildete.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Sp\u00e4ter erwarb ich einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Hochschule Heilbronn, was mich zu einem wahren Allrounder in der Firma macht. Bei Nora's English Institute, dessen Gr\u00fcnderin meine Frau ist, k\u00fcmmere ich mich um Buchhaltung, Finanzen und Vertrieb und sorge daf\u00fcr, dass das Institut reibungslos funktioniert und weiter w\u00e4chst.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Wenn ich nicht mit Zahlen arbeite, reise ich mit meiner Frau um den Globus und entdecke neue Kulturen und Erfahrungen. Meine vielf\u00e4ltigen Erfahrungen und F\u00e4higkeiten erm\u00f6glichen es mir, Herausforderungen mit einer abgerundeten Perspektive anzugehen, was mich zu einer unsch\u00e4tzbaren Bereicherung f\u00fcr das Team macht.<\/span><\/p>
